A walk through the poncho

The International Festival Of Gardens

Location Westonbirt, United Kingdom

Year 2002

Description The garden testifies the particular balance established in the Latin-American landscape, where pre-Hispanic and European elements collide, the so-called Creole spirit. The poncho, as a symbol of a mixed culture, is a background for a visual approximation of the mapuche landscape, made of small  fences and small cultivations. The enigmatic patterns of the poncho are traced by wooden elements that, just like the wool of the cloth, transform themselves from their natural state of stems to a treated, smoothed and colored one.
