THE 15-MINUTE CITY
Redevelopment of open spaces in Ponte di Nona, Municipality 6, Rome
Location: Roma, Italy
Year 2023
Description: This feasibility project concerns one of the main nodes in the Ponte di Nona neighborhood and is a first step towards the accessibility and enhancement strategy for green areas. It completes a missing section of the main cycle/pedestrian path that crosses the area, creating a new link between pathways and parking spaces that will improve accessibility and public usability.
The cycle/pedestrian path represents an opportunity to redevelop a number of larger areas connected with the new route, including the creation of an agro-urban public park in Colle degli Abeti, envisioned as a multifunctional area intended for cultural and recreational activities as well as amateur agriculture through the creation of social gardens.
The park, which is at present uncultivated and entirely public, covers more than 4 hectares. The project includes the greening of the ridge areas, the construction of walkways and steps, an agricultural square and a central structure, connected to a system of urban gardens that will be set up at a later stage of the project.
