Urban regeneration project

Location Fiano Romano (RM), Italy

Year 2022 -2023

Description The project foresees the regeneration of a series of public spaces at the entrance of the historic center of Fiano Romano. The overall aim of the project is to transform Cairoli Square from asphalt to paving, to reorganise the car parking layout and to redesign the surroundings of the square in order to establish it as an upscale location from which to access the historic center. The old Roman washhouses are restored and enhanced as part of the pedestrian layout of the area, further reclaiming their urban significance through a sunshade canopy.

The existing parking area downhill from Cairoli Square is enlarged and upgraded, with the addition of trees and shrubs.

A walkway is planned between the parking area and the base of the elevator that goes up to the historic center. The project is part of a more general landscape redevelopment of the hillside that includes a new pathway to the green spaces at the bottom of the valley and along the walls of the historic center accompanied by typical trees and shrubs from the local area.
